August 2007

Dear North Carolina Friend:

I hope things are well with you. I write to let you know that my campaign has over $615,000 in cash-on-hand. (See the official summary report I filed last week with the State Board of Elections by clicking here. You'll see, at the bottom, our July cash-on-hand total of $618,000.)

I am pleased to be the financial frontrunner. But I know the tally that counts is comprised of votes in May, not dollars now. While the latest Public Policy Pollingshows me in a first-place tie, with a large group of voters undecided there is clearly much to do.

With continued help and hard work, I believe our campaign will prevail because:

(1) We will have the resources and energy to communicate with voters across the state.

(2) Voters in the Democratic primary will support a progressive candidate who is pro-choice, who seeks an end to racial injustices, who has a proven record of supporting environmental protection and workplace rights, and who has spent decades helping our fellow North Carolina Democrats.

(3) Voters will favor the candidate with the values and vision to recognize serious challenges, and the fortitude to take positions and articulate solutions.

My website - www.HD08.com - details my commitment to eliminating continuing disparities in schools, health outcomes, and our criminal justice system; putting patients first by demanding that affordable, comprehensive, and high-quality health care -- including women's reproductive health -- never be held hostage by politics; safeguarding the spectacular natural environment that makes our state such a wonderful place to call home and that we hold in trust for future generations; and enhancing voting rights, government ethics, and open government in North Carolina.

I have released a detailed plan to assist North Carolina's surging senior population that the Wilmington's Star-News calls "attractive," "sensible," and "admirably specific," along with education proposals to make North Carolina a great place to learn and to teach.

Finally, my work as a top official in the Governor"s office and the North Carolina Department of Justice, as well as in the private sector, will give voters confidence in my ability to promote public safety, our state economy, and efficient and effective government.

Thank you so much for your interest in and support of my campaign. If you are able to tell others, volunteer, and make a donation of any size, I would be deeply grateful.

Sincerely,

hamp sig

Hampton Dellinger.
